Modenine speaks about not making the 'Lyricist on the Roll' category of the Headies this year
Veteran Nigerian lyricist Modenine has spoken about his exclusion from the Lyricist on the Roll category of this year's Headies awards. In an interview
with Hip TV owned by the producers of The Headies- Smooth Promotions,
Modenine said it only makes sense that he wasn't nominated in this
year's category because it wouldn't be fair to the other nominees. "Even
with my hands are tied behind my back, it’s not a fair fight if I’m
nominated in that category, I’ve won it several times, and I think it’s
time for others to win as well. Really it’s kind of boring if I keep
wining and winning..." he said.
The nominees
in this year's category are Ice Prince, Posly TD, Jesse Jagz, and Yung
6ix. Modenine has won the Lyricist on the Roll category a record of six
times. The only time he has failed to win was at the 2012 edition of The
Headies where he was knocked out by Vector. Modenine has just released
his sixth studio album 'Above Ground Level'. Yesterday he dropped a brand new video 'Dobale' featuring Gentle from the album.
